A Word From Our Pastor.png

Greeting St Paul Family & Friends,

We have approached another Lenten season and I would like to take this moment to bring to remembrance what this season means in the life of the Christian. Between Ash Wednesday and Resurrection Sunday we observe a 40-day period known as Lent. This name comes from the “Old English lencten springtime, spring” and “from West Germanic langitinaz long-days or lengthening of the day.” Lent is a time of repentance, reflection, and reengagement I the life of the believer. We take this time to repent of the sins that separates us from God, reflect on the cost that was paid on the cross, and finally reengage in our relationship with God through seeking. Song writer Andy Williams wrote about Christmas being the most wonderful time of the year, but I think that Lenten season is the most wonderful time of the year. Believers regardless of color, gender, age, or proximity across the world unite during this season as we celebrate the journey that leads to a hill far away.

My prayer is that during this season you will repent, reflect, and reengage with God. Whether you choose to deny yourself of something during this period as at your own discretion, ultimately my desire is that you are draw intimately closer to the God. I conclude with a Lenten prayer and some accompanying scriptures for reflection.

Prayer

Almighty God, creator and maker of all things. I pray that during this season you would forgive us of our seasons and the moments we missed the mark. Provide us with the strength to do better and follow your voice daily. Bring back to our remembrance the sacrifice that was made for our lives when you sent Jesus as a ransom. We pray that during this season we are drawn closer to you and that our relationship would be strengthen in the days ahead. Guide us, keep us, and cover us through this Lenten season and beyond. In Jesus name, Amen.

MEET OUR PASTOR!

Many are Called, Few are Chosen

In November of 2017, the Saint Paul Chapel Baptist Church voted to elect the Overseer Joshua Goodin as the 8th Senior Pastor.  Overseer Goodin was installed on the first Sunday in March of 2018, since assuming the role of pastor, Overseer Goodin founded the St. Paul Chapel Restoration CDC, had the church’s non-profit status reinstated, restructured the new member’s course, licensed one minister, ordained one deacon and four deaconesses, renovated the church’s Family Life Center, and implemented noon day bible study.  Membership has increased, and new fellowships and ministries have been established.  Overseer Goodin has been on the move for the kingdom and the best is yet to come.
